At least one of these feet - foot (8) - has a length (L') substantially corresponding to the length (L) - or width (B) - of the pallet. This foot (8) contains at least two inner comparatively wide support parts (13, 14, 15), arranged in series and projecting from the bottom part (16) of the foot (8). In this way, according to fire tests - where several identical pallets (1) filled with goods were stacked on top of each other - each pallet (1) has a unique ability to extinguish flames generated in goods on the pallet located directly below the pallet in question, and moreover, the pallet also shows considerable dimensional stability. This makes the pallet (1) particularly suitable for transport on transport means, optionally roller conveyors which cause many bumps.

摘要： A pallet, and its method of manufacture, is made from a first material such as expanded polystrene (EPS) and the pallet is encased in a second material that is more rigid than the first material. The second material can be selected from high impact polystrene (HIPS), acrylonitrile butadeine styrene (ABS), and acrylonitrile styrene acrylate to provide rigidity, impact resistance and good UV resistance. The pallet is formed of a first element (100) to receive a load and second element or legs (200) to support the first element. The first element (100) can have an upwardly projecting lip, a drainage channel, a plurality of recesses to hold barrels or boxes, and have a surface to reduce slipping. The second element can have longitudinal slots (230) for receiving stiffening ribs (250). The first and second elements have complimentary grooves (110) to allow coupling and to increase the torsional and flexural strength of the pallet.

The method may also include the step of incorporating a quantity of rollable moulded reinforcing elements (7) in the mould with said first and second thermoplastics materials, wherein the reinforcing elements are located in a spaced array thereby forming bridges between opposed inner skin surfaces as they expand. Articles, such as a shipping pallet, rotationally moulded using the method are also disclosed.
