The machine includes a supply of film for wrapping a package and a hot plate mechanism for heat fusing the film after the package is wrapped. The apparatus includes a source of wrapping material (42) and a table (77) movable about an axis between limit positions (Fig. 6). The table supports the stack in one limit position and in movement pivotally to the other limit position assists in locating the stack to a heat table (47). The wrapping material preferably is a heat sealable plastic film and means (91, 92, 71) are provided to guide the end region of the wrapping material from the source to and beyond the table. The stack in the one limit position rests on the wrapping material which is caused to partially envelop e the stack. In pivotal movement to the other limit position, the stack strikes the guide means (71) to locate an upstream length of wrapping material to the heat table below the stack for sealing the juxtaposed layers across their width. Simultaneously, the wrapping material is severed from the wrapped stack. Marginal edge sealing by heat or otherwise is contemplated.

The apparatus includes a machine frame (11) that provides a work surface (15) with measuring (14) and wrapping (16) sections. Multiple selectable supply rolls are optionally provided, or a single roll machine can be used. Longitudinal cutters (42, 43) trim the sides of the paper to obtain a custom desired width for the full cut sheet. A user interface display controls machine functions such as start, continue and sheeter. In the sheeter mode, a selected number of sheets of a selected size can be dispensed and cut for use at another workstation to wrap other boxes of known uniform size (e.g., shirt boxes at a department store).
