    • Applicable to expansive fibers in general, such as e. g. cotton, wool, cork and other similar materials which fibers are naturally expansive, which should be compacted for transport and storage; to compose the expansive fiber bale (1), a conventional press (2) which can be provided with different numbers of trays (3) is used; the system requires the use of a press (2) in which a given volume of expansive fibers is compressed and compacted to form the expansive fiber bale (1), being the press (2) plates provided with a number of trays (3); the system includes plastic bands (4) developing paths defining parallel (P) and crossed (Cl) contours, forming sections (S) at each given quantity of trays (3); the system allows to obtain an expansive fiber bale (1) from the operation of the press (2) which plates define trays (3) in confronting positions, so to configure with the press (2) a folding side (L) and a feeding side (L1). The resulting bale (1) is an expansive fiber bale fixed by plastic bands applied to corresponding trays (3), following as many sections (S) as required, following parallel and crossed contours and with the locking of said plastic bands (4) being assured by claw type edges (5) always inserted between a band (4) and the bale (1), being the location of said edges (5) inverted at the two ends defining each section (S).

    • An apparatus (1) is provided for materials reduction. The apparatus (1) has a compaction chamber (32), a platen (36) for reciprocating between an extended position and a retracted position so that materials in the chamber (32) can be compacted, a securing arrangement for securing the compacted materials, and sensing means (63, 64) for sensing the platen positions in relation to one dimension of the compacted materials and pressure in relation to compactness of the compacted materials. The apparatus (1) includes a programmable controller programmed to initiate the securing operation when the pressure is at a predetermined pressure and the platen is at a predetermined position corresponding to a set dimension of the compacted materials. The securing arrangement is adapted to secure the compacted materials in a bale form and at the same time joining the securing materials for securing subsequent materials to be compacted. The compaction operation continues until the subsequent materials have been compacted to a set prepack dimension and are subject to a set pressure, at which an ejection operation is initiated for ejecting the baled materials through the gate (44). Materials to be introduced into the chamber (32) may be shredded beforehand by a shredder (24) or through a bypass inlet (26). A guide chute (30) can be arranged for guiding the materials into the chamber. The operations of the apparatus (10) can be diagnosed or controlled remotely by a computer.
