    • A method for the manufacture of a prefabricated element, said element consisting of an outer panel (1), an inner panel (2) and thermal insulating material (3) placed between them, in which method the outer panel (1) is cast in a mould, reinforcements (4) connecting the parts of the element are mounted in the outer panel, thermal insulating material (3) is mounted on top of the outer panel, and the inner panel (2) is cast onto the thermal insulating material. According to the invention, a slot insert (5) of adjustable thickness in an expanded state is mounted between the outer panel (1) and the thermal insulating material (3). After the inner panel (2) has been cast, the slot insert is shrunk in thickness, and the slot insert is extracted from between the outer panel and the thermal insulating material, the open space thus created forming a ventilator slot (6) between the outer panel and the thermal insulating material.

    • A method of making a hollow article is disclosed, the method comprising inflating a hollow former which has the shape of the article to be produced. The outer surface of the former comprises a fabric woven or knited from a yarn which includes a core and a multitude of staple fibres forming a layer which envelopes the core and provides an extended surface area and interstical spaces for infiltration by cement fines and hydrates, the staple fibres being spun around the core and attached to the core, the staple fibres having sufficient freedom of radial movement to provide said spaces and permit ingress of cement fines and the formation of its hydrates in said spaces. Cementitious mix then applied to the fabric to create an outer cementitious layer. Several such layers of fabric and mix can be applied to build a wall of the requisite thickness. The hollow former can be a bladder to the outer surface of which the fabric is applied. Alternatively the fabric can be laminated to an air impervious plastic film, and the former produced from said laminate.

    • An apparatus for use in concrete construction is characterized by a body having a first portion configured to be set into concrete during the casting of that concrete, and which can be removed from the concrete after the concrete has set, and thereby may be reused in a similar manner with other concrete castings. The body of the apparatus is preferably generally cylindrical and preferably includes a serrated exterior surface. The body also preferably includes a second portion configured to facilitate removal of the apparatus from the concrete, and further includes an engagement member with which other devices may be engaged. The second portion may also be engageable with an alignment member to facilitate the accuracy of insertion and removal of the apparatus from the concrete. The serrated exterior preferably interferingly engages with at least one reinforcing element formed in the concrete, to assist in positioning of the concrete. The body may also be inflatable, and thus removable from the concrete by deflating. Inflatable and non-inflatable embodiments of the apparatus find use in "no-slump" or extrusion concrete applications. A preferred method of use of the apparatus is disclosed.

    • A system and a method for molding a part from fiber cement, or fibrocement, slurry are provided. The molding is preferably made by pressure injection of the slurry. The slurry comprises cementitious material, additives, fibers and water. The fibers can include polypropylene, polyethylene, polyacrylic, cellulose, and/or asbestos fibers. First and second molding sections define, at least partially, a chamber. The second molding section comprises at least one evacuating channel. The system includes a slurry inlet communicating with the chamber, for inserting the slurry. A bladder covers the first molding section, the bladder being inflatable for compressing the slurry between the bladder and the second molding section. A filter covers the second molding section and allows water contained in the slurry to pass through while retaining the cementitious material and fibers within the chamber. A pressurized fluid inlet port communicates with at least one conduit for inflating the bladder.
