摘要： The present invention provides a cannula including an elongate hollow tubular body, the body having a first end and an opposing second end, and an inflatable chamber at the second end. The inflatable chamber is adapted to be inflatable by fluid so as to be expanded circumferentially about the elongate hollow tubular body at the second end, whereby the expanded inflatable chamber has a surface which is coplanar with the exit of the central elongate passage at the second end of the elongate hollow tubular body. The cannula further comprises a transverse wall which extends outwardly in a transverse direction from the elongate hollow tubular body at the first end, and an inflation port for permitting injection of fluid into the chamber for inflating the chamber. The transverse wall provides an entrance to the central elongate passage, and an exit to the central elongate passage is provided at the second end. Optionally the inflatable chamber of the cannula is divided into two or more sub- chambers. Methods of using such a cannula are also disclosed. The cannula of the invention may be inserted through a minimally invasive portal, and its position may be stably maintained once inserted and inflated.

摘要： A new process of manufacturing a hybrid cannula may include creating a first part with at least two components, overmolding at least two components of a second part to a channel in each component of the first part, and fixing the components of the first part together. The second part may include various types of features such as thick/thin dams, squirt membranes, and/or duck bill dams inside the hybrid cannula. Each dam may have any number, shape, orientation, and length of slits/openings. The slits/openings may allow passage of an instrument while the dam(s) may prevent fluid from passing through the hybrid cannula. A third part may optionally be overmolded to at least a portion of the first part, at least a portion of the second part, or both. The third part may provide an extension, a flange, or a combination thereof at a distal end of the hybrid cannula.

摘要： Embodiments of the invention provide a cannula having a body with a first outer diameter, a proximal end, a distal end, a lumen extending between the proximal and distal ends, and a portion outward of the first outer diameter having a second outer diameter greater than the first outer diameter that is adapted to space tissue from the fluid inlet to maintain fluid flow. 摘要： The present invention provides an improved surgical retractor system useful for holding tissue away from a surgical site during a medical or dental procedure. In one embodiment, the surgical retractor system is comprised of a tubular member, such as a cannula, and a retractor member. In an embodiment, the retractor member may be ring shaped. The retractor member preferably may have an opening therethrough for receiving the cannula. An engaging member associated with the retractor member may be provided for rotatably engaging the cannula. In one embodiment, the cannula may have external threads that are releaseably engaged with the engaging member and allows the degree or amount of tissue retraction to be adjusted. The cannula may be configured to be used with and secured to a handle to facilitate using the retractor system. A method of using the retractor system is also disclosed.
