摘要： In a power toothbrush, a brush base portion is provided at a top end of a brush attachment which is detachably engaged with a main body containing an actuator generating driving force for driving at least the brush base portion. The brush base portion can be reciprocally moved in an axial direction of the main body with a predetermined stroke and a predetermined frequency, swing around a rotation axis perpendicular to the axial direction of the main body with a predetermined swing angle and a predetermined frequency, or rotated around the rotation axis with a predetermined rotation speed. A plurality of floating base member is floatingly supported in guiding hollows formed in the brush base portion, and a brush staple is planted on each floating base member. Thus, dirt or plaque remained in interdental portion of the tooth can effectively be removed, when top ends of the brush staples contact the surfaces of the tooth.

摘要： A toothbrush (10) is disclosed with soft fingers (16) mounted on the toothbrush head (14). During use of the toothbrush the fingers move laterally relative to the axis of the toothbrush thereby improving the tooth cleaning and gum massaging performance of the toothbrush. The lateral movement of the fingers is accomplished by relatively stiff ribs (24) which physically interconnect the fingers to flexible portions of the toothbrush head. The ribs translate flexure of the head into the lateral movement of the fingers.

摘要： A bristle brush for applying a cosmetic product to hair is provided with a sleeve having a longitudinal axis and at least one perforation. The brush is disposed within the sleeve so that brush bristles extend through the perforation for contact with the hair. The perforation is circular, arcuate, rectangular, square, triangular or trapezoidal in shape or at an angle with respect to the longitudinal axis of the sleeve. When the sleeve has a plurality of perforations, the perforations can be shaped alike or can differ in shape and/or in angle with respect to the longitudinal axis of the sleeve so that one or more predetermined performance characteristics are obtained when the brush is used to apply the cosmetic product to the hair. A method for adjusting brush performance characteristics is also disclosed.

One embodiment comprises a spring clamp (16) adapted for removable affixation to the bristles of a toothbrush (10), after it has been used, in a crucial region (15) proximal the free ends of the brush bristles (14). A discovery and identification of the crucial area is claimed. A preferred embodiment is so designed that the impact area of the clamp (16) on the brush (10) is approximately 1/4 distance down from the free ends of the bristles. The clamp (16) causes the bristles to be closely juxtaposed throughout the clamped area, while the bristles above the clamped area are permitted to flare outward, while the lower portion of the bristles below the clamp line form into a wedge-like configuration, both of which shapes tend to move in opposite direction during the brushing action providing a resilient base of support for the flared upper portion. The configuration so formed will not substantially retain itself during subsequent use and may be re-formed to those configurations after each use by following the same clamping procedure. Thereby, a soft-bristle toothbrush, which is most desirable for effective orthodenture tooth hygiene, in contrast to the hard bristle brush, may have resilience which enhances its cleaning effectiveness imparted to and retained by it without disarray of the bristles from hard use.
