    • A vacuum trap has a vacuum chamber and a conduit having at least one first opening open to atmosphere and a second opening connected to the vacuum chamber. A valve connects the conduit to the vacuum chamber and seals the vacuum chamber. A vacuum source maintains a vacuum inside the vacuum chamber immediately prior to the valve opening, the vacuum being sufficient to draw a vermin through an opening of the conduit. A detector detects the presence of vermin, the valve opening in response to a signal from the detector when vermin are detected.

    • In a method of catching and optionally killing particularly rats, mice and similar animals, such as weasels, e.g. mink. in a trap of the type where the animals are caught in a separate chamber (13) and are optionally killed by a gas, preferably carbon dioxide, and where the animals are guided into the chamber via an entrance (4) connected with an activation mechanism (7, 8, 9) which may be released by an animal via a detection unit (8) when the animal is present on the entrance device; the animals are allowed to pass the detection device a certain number of times before the entrance device is activated. The animals are hereby allowed to gain a certain familiarity with the trap, which makes it considerably more effective. It is likewise disclosed that it is possible to use a device with the detection unit (8) in an entrance to watch whether vermin are present in a given area. This device may be constituted by a part of the trap.

    • Method and system for detecting triggering of a trap for small animals, wherein the method comprises the following steps: a) providing a trap for small animals; b) placing a transmitting device comprising a motion sensor either in direct contact or in close proximity to the trap; c) detection of a triggering of the trap or of a movement of an animal in the trap by the motion sensor; d) transmitting a first signal via radio communication by the transmitting device to any mobile device within receiving range having installed a mobile app for receiving signals from the transmitting device, wherein the mobile app is configured to transmit a second signal to a server upon receipt of the first signal from the transmitting device; e) transmitting the second signal from the mobile device to the server; f) transmitting a third signal from the server to a recipient upon receipt of the second signal by the server; and wherein the system is adapted such that the method can be carried out.
