    • The sex of embryos in eggs is influenced or controlled through the application of light having selected wavelengths in order to promote the development of embryos of a selected sex. An incubating device is provided having an interior cavity that can be sealed from an outside, and having a plurality of lighting elements disposed on each of a plurality of trays disposed in the interior cavity. Eggs are disposed on the trays, and pre-determined environmental conditions are applied to the interior cavity to promote hatching of the eggs. Concurrently with the application of the environmental conditions, the eggs are irradiated according to pre-determined lighting conditions. The lighting conditions include applying light having wavelengths substantially concentrated in selected ranges, such as light wavelengths within the 390-419 nm, 410-450 nm, 420-450 nm, 450-495 nm, or other narrow range.

    • Disclosed is a hatching apparatus for learners enabling observation of a hatching process of a hatching egg. The hatching apparatus for learners is provided with a hatching chamber that defines a hatching space suitable for accommodation of a hatching egg and has a viewing window. As for a hatching condition in the hatching chamber, temperature and humidity in the hatching chamber are controlled by introducing air heated by a heater and moisture generated through vaporization of water by means of a fan into the hatching chamber. The hatching egg seated in the hatching chamber is turned by an egg-turning device. The egg-turning device, the heater and the fan are controlled by a control unit, so that the temperature and humidity in the hatching chamber can be consistently maintained and the hatching egg can be periodically turned.

    • Hatchling processing methods and systems are disclosed that provide for the processing of hatchlings at a plurality of processing stations (104), with the hatchlings being transferred between stations using an automated conveying system (108). Each of the hatchlings is retained in a hatchling carrier (106) designed to be conveyed by the automated conveying system. Each of the hatchling carriers is preferably designed to retain only one hatchling at a time. The systems and methods may also include identification tags (107) that may be used to direct the hatchling through the processing system with the automated conveying system. The identification tags may be associated with the hatchlings themselves or they may be associated with the hatchling carriers.
