    • A walk reel mower has a pivotal rear traction drum that can be selectively disposed in two different mowing positions that allow a single mower to cut grass on golf course greens as well as tee boxes with no degradation in cutting or power performance. The reel cutting unit has a pivotal rear shield to allow the rear shield to be pivotally adjusted to maintain its radial spacing relative to the orbit of the reel at a desired amount as the reel diameter decreases due to wear. The ground speed of the walk reel mower is automatically slowed during turns of the mower by a mechanical cable assembly that links a user operable throttle control and throttle reducing control to a prime mover throttle. Finally, the leverage provided by the mower handle assembly when placed in a lowered position is used by the user to more easily deploy a kickstand.

    • The invention relates to a grass cutting unit (1) comprising a frame (2) and, provided in connection with said frame: a cutter (3) for cutting grass and support elements (4; 41, 42) for supporting the cutting unit (1) against the ground, particularly when cutting grass. Said cutting unit (1) is provided with a cutting height setting device. In a most preferred embodiment of the invention, the cutting height setting device comprises two lead screws (7; 71, 72; 73, 74) that are connected to the ends of both support reels (4; 41, 42), and the corresponding nut elements are connected to the frame; by rotating said lead screws by driving motors, advantageously electric motors (6; 61, 62), each support reel can be moved essentially in the vertical direction, and simultaneously the cutting height can be adjusted within the desired limits.
