摘要： A waterproof seam for a garment is formed between two pieces of fabric, at least one of the pieces being a laminate. The laminate comprises a first layer (40, 50) comprising a waterproof water-vapour-permeable layer, and a second knitted or woven layer (30) laminated to the first layer. The second layer (30) comprises a first component and a second component, the first component being stable to a first temperature and a second component melting at a second temperature lower than the first temperature. The seam also comprises a thermoplastic seam seal tape (5) in contact with the second layer of the at least one piece of laminate, and sealing the seam. The seam seal tape is applied over the seam at elevated temperature and pressure, so as to melt the thermoplastic seam seal tape and also the second component of the knitted or woven layer, and form a waterproof seam.

It is usually in the form of a thin sheet of thickness 50-750 microns, optionally laminated to a backing material. It may be in roll form (6), either dry or pre-loaded with release oil, as a cover wick (20) for an oil reservoir (26), or laminated to a roller (30) or a reservoir material (40). The surface is textured to improve coating and wiping.

摘要： An apparatus is provided for drying materials, such as natural products including crops, cereals, vegetables, timber etc., which includes a sealed chamber (2) into which the materials are placed which retains a volume of gas. Water-vapour exchange means are provided either in the wall (30) of the chamber unit or in a separate unit (50), which comprise a selectively permeable membrane which is permeable to water-vapour but impermeable to gas. A heater (20) heats the gas inside the chamber, which absorbs water vapour from the material. The water vapour is then selectively transported through the membrane, whilst the heated gas is retained in the chamber. The drying process is energy-efficient.

摘要： An ostomy filter for colostomy and ileostomy bags is gas-permeable to allow venting, and liquid-impermeable to prevent leakage. It includes a hydrogen sulphide adsorbent to remove smells. The filter comprises 9 to 50 % by weight of particles of unsintered granular polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), 30 to 82 % by weight of particles of comminuted sintered expanded porous PTFE, and 9 to 30 % by weight of particulate water-insoluble H2S adsorbent. The particles are fused together by baking at elevated temperature to form a gas-permeable liquid-impermeable network. The comminuted sintered expanded porous PTFE is preferably formed by comminuting uniaxially expanded PTFE fibre.

摘要： An electrical insulating composite material comprises an intimate admixture of (a) 5-90 weight percent of a thermoplastic copolymer of tetrafluoroethylene and perfluoro (propyl vinyl ether); and (b) 90-5 weight percent of coagulated dispersion type polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), or of porous expanded PTFE. Tape made from the composite material may be porous expanded tape or non-porous tape. The tape is wrapped around a conductor (C) and sintered at 320-450 °C. A dual-wrap construction having layers (A, B) of both porous expanded tape and of non-porous tape give particularly good dynamic cut-through and scrape resistance properties.
