    • An improve thin-film photovoltaic module (200) and a method (100) for making the same are disclosed. The photovoltaic module (200) comprises a plurality of photovoltaic cells (30) disposed on a substrate (22) having a plurality of substantially hemispheric protrusions (26) on the surface thereof. The photovoltaic module (200) is formed by first providing the substrate (22) with the plurality of substantially hemispheric protrusions (26). A conducting material (32) is then applied on the substrate (22) to form a first conducting layer (32). Active ingredients, semiconductor layers (34) or the like photovoltaic materials are subsequently deposited on the first conducting layer (32). Finally, a transparent conducting material (36) is applied on the photovoltaic layer (34) to form a second conducting layer (36).

    • This invention is a system for harnessing multiple sources of renewable energy in an efficient and cost effective manner to power standalone electrical appliances such as street light, telecommunication stations and signboards. One of the objectives of the invention is to make use of the inherent structure of the intended applications which is the tall supporting pole (50) to gain energy from the stack effect of rising hot air by absorbing solar radiation. A further objective is to enhance the stack effect by wind rotor (60) mounted on the top of the pole to increase the air flow. Inside the pole, a wind turbine (55) is mounted. Electricity generated by solar thermal effect (30), wind (55) and photovoltaic (25) is used to charge storage battery and the appliances by a charge controller.
