    • A molded cross vehicle beam which includes a hollow blow molded thermoplastic rigid member that is integrally attached to a rigid support, e.g., a U-shaped metal plate, and at least one attachment element, is described. The rigid support (12) has a first surface, a second surface and a plurality of perforations having edges. The attachment element(s) (81, 84) have a first surface, a second surface and a plurality of perforations having edges. The attachment element provides a means of attaching the molded cross vehicle beam to a separate structure ( e.g., the A-pillars of an automobile). A thermoplastic parison precursor of the hollow rigid thermoplastic member (15) is blow molded against the first surfaces of the rigid support (12) and the attachment element (81, 84). Portions of the thermoplastic parison extend through perforations in each of the rigid support (12) and the attachment element (81, 84), thereby attaching the hollow thermoplastic rigid member (15) to the rigid support (12) and the attachment element (81, 84). The present invention also relates to a process by which the molded cross vehicle beam is prepared.

    • A digital data storage assembly (2), e.g., a flexible thin film compact disc, is described. Digital data storage assembly (2) includes, (a) a thin film data storage carrier (11), having substantially opposed first (14) and second (17) surfaces, a aperture (20) defined in part by a pair of substantially opposed arcuate sides (97, 97') and a pair of substantially opposed substantially straight sides (94, 94'), and at least one tab (23, 26) extending partially into aperture (20). The assembly (2) also includes, (b) a rigid support (29) having substantially opposed first (32) and second (35) surfaces, and an aperture (38). The assembly (2) further includes, (c) a locking device (41) positioned at least partially around aperture (38) of rigid support (29). Locking device (41) includes at least one shelf (44, 47) extending out over a portion of the first surface (32) of rigid support (29). The shelf (e.g., 44) and a portion (e.g., 53) of the first surface (32) of rigid support (29) residing thereunder together define a slot (e.g., 62), having an open end (59) and a closed end (56).     • A glass fiber reinforced thermoplastic molding composition suitable for the preparation of articles having good surface properties is disclosed. The composition contains a resinous blend and a filler component. The resinous blend contains (i) 20 to 50 wt.% of a grafted acrylate rubber, (ii) 2 to 10 wt.% of a first copolymer containing structural units derived from styrene (meth)acrylonitrile and maleic anhydride, (iii) 20 to 80 wt.% polyamide, and (iv) 0 to 40 wt.% of a second copolymer containing structural units derived from styrene and (meth)acrylonitrile, the percents being relative to the total amount of (i), (ii), (iii) and (iv). The filler component of the inventive composition contains 5 to 50 percent of milled glass fibers, the percent being relative to the weight of the molding composition. Optionally, the inventive composition also contains a positive amount of a wollastonite. Molded articles that are prepared of the composition feature good mechanical properties and excellent surface quality.
