    • A luminaire is providing, having a substrate of a particular shape and a plurality of solid state light sources mounted thereon. The plurality has a measurable characteristic and includes an adjustable solid state light source, such that the characteristic changes in response to adjustment thereof. The luminaire also includes a sensor that detects the characteristic from outputted light, compares it to a baseline value and, based on the comparison, so adjusts the adjustable solid state light source. The luminaire also includes a reflector with a lower edge that conforms to the particular shape of the substrate, and reflects outputted light from the plurality so that it exits past the reflector's upper edge. The luminaire also includes a lightguide having an input that is surrounded by the reflector and captures a portion of the outputted light so as to provide the captured outputted light to the sensor.

    • A thermal management system for a display case (10) having a corner in which a lighting system (22) is located is provided. The lighting system includes a reflector (24) and a light source (26) that generates heat and is mounted with the reflector. A lighting system support (20) is positioned in the corner of the display case and is associated with the lighting system. A mullion (25) is positioned between the lighting system support and the lighting system. The mullion maintains a desired relative position between the lighting system support and the lighting system. A contactor (32) is located between the lighting system support and the lighting system, and provides minimal thermal conduction between the lighting system support and the lighting system. The contactor thus reduces heat transfer from the heat-generating light source to the lighting system support, thereby reducing an amount of heat transferred to the comer of the display case.

    • Systems and methods of Planckian and non-Planckian dimming of solid state light sources are disclosed. For a given first range of correlated color temperature values on the 1931 CIE Chromaticity Diagram, the current through a plurality of solid state light sources is adjusted so that the light output thereby follows the correlated color temperature values relating to the black body curve over that given first range. For a given second range of correlated color temperature values, the current through a plurality of solid state light sources is adjusted so that the light output thereby deviates from black body curve and instead relates to a series of coordinates that tracks a line between the curve and a color point for one of the solid state light sources.

    • Lamp connectors are provided. The lamp connectors include a swinging connector and a rotatable connector. The swinging connector is coupled to a pivot connection point disposed on a first exterior surface of a lamp. The swinging connector is operative to pivot between a first position close in proximity to the lamp and a second position at distance away from the lamp. A portion of the swinging connector may be received and retained by a second exterior surface of the lamp, when the lamp is in the first position. The rotatable connector is attached to an end of a lamp via a rotation mechanism. The rotation mechanism is disposed on the end of the lamp. The rotatable connector includes a surface and a pin protruding therefrom. The pin is offset from a central portion of the end of the lamp.
