    • The disclosed method provides a way to manufacture a style of an article of footwear (1100, 304) in bulk, while providing customization for heel stability for individual customers. Moreover, the disclosed method provides a way to customize articles of footwear (1100, 304) for a customer (302) on an ongoing basis, such that the heel stability of the articles of footwear (1100, 304) is refined until a tailored fit is achieved for the same customer (302). Generally, the method may include providing a user/customer with an article of footwear (1100, 304), getting evaluation information about the stability of the article of footwear (1100, 304) from a survey (e.g., asking the user to rate the stability of the article of footwear (1100, 304) in a smartphone app), modifying the next article of footwear (1100, 304) provided to the user/customer according to the evaluation information, and iterating through this process to give the user an article optimized for stability.

    • An article of footwear (100; 2100) is disclosed. The article of footwear may generally include a sole comprising a first plate (106) and a second plate (108). The first plate includes a first edge (110), and the second plate includes a second edge (112), where the first edge faces the second edge. The first edge has a first contour (142) corresponding to a second contour (144) of the second edge. In one embodiment, sole plate (2103) includes a heel region (2102), where the heel region includes a first heel region (2106) and a second heel region (2108). A notch region (2104) separates the first heel region and the second heel region, where the notch region extends from an outer edge of the heel portion (14) toward the midfoot portion (12) of the article of footwear (2100). The first plate and second plate may improve an amount of energy return while running by increasing a rigidity of the sole.
