摘要： An adjustable height support column (10) comprises a base plate (12) and a support plate (16) joined together by an axially adjustable linking mechanism (20). The linking mechanism includes a first threaded shaft (26) attached to the base plate and a second threaded shaft (22) attached to the support plate, where the two shafts are hollow and can engage such other telescopically. The linking mechanism further includes a bridging mechanism (30) which permits the shafts to translate axially relative to each other while maintaining a fixed relative rotational orientation. A coupling member (32) threadably engages the outside of the shaft so that rotation of the coupling member effects axial translation of the shafts relative to each other.

The baseplate (22) is mounted on a support rod (94) which is slidably received in a casing (70). A lever arm (80) having a surface (98) which engages the support rod (94) can be moved relative to the casing (70) for selectively locking the rod (94) in place.
