    • Methods and systems for processing graphical data received at a computing system from a remote source are described. At the remote source, text portions of the remote screen to be compressed and transmitted have applied thereto e.g. a lossless codec, while image and background data have applied thereto a proogressive codec, or optionally e.g. MPEG-4 AVC/264. At the receiving computing system, the subsequently received graphical content are decoded, wherein decoding the received graphical content includes creating a decoded image. During post-processing, one or more of a plurality of filters, including e.g. an asymmetric deblocking filter (602), a bilateral filter (606) and a peaking filter (604), may be applied to decompressed graphical content from one or more regions of the screen as received from decoders. In said post-processing, if a region of the decompressed graphical content is considered to be of middle quality, a plurality of filters are applied to that region in e.g. a first order (600). Alternatively, if the quality of the region is considered to be of a low quality, the plurality of filters are applied in a second order (700). Otherwise, if a region under consideration is considered to be of a high quality then either: no filter is applied; or only an asymmetric deblocking filter is applied.
