摘要： A light source including a ballast characterized by a resonant frequency and including a reference bus and a transformer having a secondary winding. A fluorescent lamp is partially covered by a shield, connected to the reference bus and coupled to the secondary winding. The ballast further includes a current sensor connected between the secondary winding and reference bus for sensing current flow through at least the lamp including that portion of lamp current attributable to parasitic capacitances affecting the resonant frequency.

摘要： A gas discharge lamp has an impedance element such as a capacitor connected to at least one electrode heater, to produce a heater impedance which falls within a range which is unique to lamps of that lamp type. An electronic ballast for operating such lamp has a lamp type detection circuit which measures the cold heater impedance and identifies the corresponding lamp type. The ballast may sample the heater circuit current to determine resistive and reactive components to aid in lamp type identification and to control heater warm-up. The ballast may include a separate inverter for heater power, and control heater power separate from arc power after lamp ignition.

摘要： A system for implementing a method for initializing and binding network addresses (NAX) of ballasts (30a-30h) is disclosed. The system comprises a remote control (20) having a master controller (22) and the ballasts (30a-30h) each having a slave controller (32). The master controller (22) and the slave controllers (32) are operated to implement routines (40, 60) whereby the master controller (22) generates a clock sequence (CS) of a plurality of clock cycles (TX), and the slave controllers (32) randomly generate addresses (RAX) and direct a transmission of signals (RASX) indicative of the generated random addresses (RAX) to the master controller (22) during corresponding clock cycles (TX). In response thereto, the master controller (22) assigns network addresses (NAX) corresponding to the random addresses (RAX) as indicated by the corresponding clock cycles (TX). The master controller (22) and the slave controllers (32) are further operated to implement routines (40, 60) for verifying the assigned network addresses (NAX) and routines (160, 180) for binding each network address (NAX) to a command of the remote control (20).
