The sealing arrangement includes a seal surrounding the member beneath the support, the seal having a first sealing surface configured to be sealed against a cabinet, and a second sealing surface. The seal is movable between an inactive position wherein the second sealing surface is out of contact with the support and a sealing position wherein the second sealing surface seals against the support. The seal includes a stationary part having the first sealing surface and a sliding part having the second sealing surface.

The machine also includes a servomotor dnven knockout apparatus wherein the servomotor dnves a cam and lever arrangement. A food system uses an integrated and compact motor and gearbox assemblies to dnve the feed screws, and modular bearing assemblies on the shafts of the feed screws. The feed screws have heavy wall thickness flights. A sealed drum motor housed in the dnve roller dnves the hopper conveyor. The food system utilizes independent sensing means for indicating whenever the moldable food material accumulated at said one end of the hopper exceeds a given level. The cooling system with two fans and automatically closing dampers is improved and its placement and arrangement within the machine is optimized to save space and improve circulation.

The parallel loaves that are engaged by a common loaf feed drive or side-by-side, independent loaf feed drives are engaged by the loaf feed drive or drives simultaneously such that the interface or seam between a preceding loaf and a trailing loaf in different loaf feed paths are located substantially at the same location during slicing of two side-by-side loaf streams. A clamp device is provided that clamps multiple food loaves when loaded to move along the parallel food loaf paths together, wherein the clamp device can be released once the multiple food loaves are simultaneously engaged by the loaf feed drive.

The adapter system can include first and second sets of adapters and a drawbar having provision for connection at opposite ends to driving rods of the drive system. The first set of adapters have keys corresponding to the first set of keyholes, and the second set of adapters having keys corresponding to the second set of keyholes, the first and second set of adapters being selectively attached to the drawbar.
