    • The present invention relates to a cleaning appliance (1) of the cylinder type. The cleaning appliance comprises a separating apparatus (4) for separating dirt from a dirt- bearing fluid flow, and a floor-engaging rolling assembly (6). The separating apparatus comprises a first cyclonic separation unit having a low efficiency cyclone and a second cyclonic separation unit having a plurality of second cyclones (84). The rolling assembly comprises a main body (8) having a recess (18) in which the separating apparatus (4) is received, and a plurality of floor-engaging wheels (10, 12) rotatably connected to the main body (8). The recess (18) in the main body comprises a plurality of shaped recesses (36), each of which corresponds to the shape of at least a portion of a second cyclone (84). When the separating apparatus (4) is received in the recess (18), a second cyclone (84) is located at least partially in each shaped recess (36).
