    • The sawing machine according to the invention comprises a double portal structure (11) with two pairs of uprights (11.1), along which slides a respective ram (13). The rams (13) bear four support shafts (15), superposed in pairs and each supporting a coaxial roller, respectively a plurality of coaxial pulleys (18), mutually juxtaposed in packet fashion, having coplanar races according to respective vertical planes. A shaft (15) rotates integrally with the respective roller, or with the respective packet of pulleys (18). The other rollers, or packets of pulleys (18) are idle. On sets of four coplanar races is wound a corresponding wire or cutting tool (19) in closed loop, to execute the cut in a corresponding vertical plane of a block of material (B).

    • A tensioning device of a flexible member wound on pulleys in a sawing machine for material in block form, comprising a shaft (15) to support one or more pulleys (18), on each whereof there is partially wound a respective cutting wire flexible member, while said shaft has two opposite flat faces (15.1) parallel to one another and the hub (18.1) of each pulley carried by the same shaft is provided with a substantially slot-shaped central mounting hole (18.2) with two opposite rectilinear and parallel sides (18.3) juxtaposed slidingly against said parallel flat faces (15.1) of the shaft, so that said slot-shaped hole (18.2) allows said pulley (18) to perform a translational movement with respect to the shaft (15), while mounted on the hub (18.1) of each pulley is a corresponding bearing (18.4), which supports the respective pulley (18a) in a freely rotating manner. According to the invention, said tensioning device comprises elastic means (16) interposed between said support shaft (15) and said hub (18.1) of each pulley (18), so that their elastic force causes, in an automatic and constant manner, a relative sliding of said hub with pulley relative to the same shaft, said sliding being stopped when the reaction applied by the respective cutting wire partially wound on said pulley (18) equals the elastic force of said elastic means (16) acting on said hub (18.1), thus obtaining the proper individual tensioning of each cutting wire.

    • According to the invention, each block of stone belonging to a plurality of blocks (B1, B4) arranged in sequence is advanced along a line by conveyor means (11, 14, 15, 16, 19) which feed it to an advancement and cutting station (I4), in which at least a closed loop cutting tool (17) is caused to continuously travel in a plane which is essentially vertical between a drive pulley (17.1) and at least a driven pulley (17.2) and makes a corresponding cut in said block with an essentially vertical branch (T1), i.e. in the direction of the height of the block, while the block is advanced continously towards a following unloading station (I5), so that all the blocks belonging to a plurality of blocks of stone (which are fed in sequence and in line along said conveyor means) are divided into slices; this arrangement permitting continous operation in optimal conditions in terms of planarity of each cut and parallelism between several cuts in a same block, when working with several cutting tools, with high specific pressure of each cutting tool, particularly in the middle of the block to be cut, whereby improving cutting efficiency and reducing tool wear.
