摘要： The invention relates to an extendable support apparatus for supporting an endless conveyor belt wherein the belt has an upper carry-side and a lower return- side. The apparatus has an extendable frame which includes a first side and a second side. Each side of the frame has a plurality of segments at least one of which can extend relative to the adjacent segment(s). The extendable frame also has a plurality of idlers wherein each idler extends between a segment on the first side of the frame and a corresponding segment on the second side of the frame. At least one of the idlers is able to slide, relative to the segments between which it extends, in a direction parallel to said segments. Each idler is also movable between a closed position in which the idler is supported by both of the segments between which it extends, and an open position in which the idler is separated relative to at least one of the segments.
