    • Hydroxybenzotriazole-based compounds are useful for ultraviolet light absorbing additives for a variety of applications. Such compounds have particular usefulness in various applications, including plastics, automotive, coatings, and food packaging applications. Such inventive compound exhibit excellent UV radiation absorbing activity, high thermal stability, excellent low fogging, low extraction/low migration rates, and high lightfastness levels, particularly when incorporated within certain media and/or on the surface of certain substrates, particularly polyesters, polyolefins, and polyurethanes. Block copolymer chain or chains consisting of poly(oxyalkylene) and/or aliphatic polyester segments can be conveniently tailored to increase the solubility or compatibility in different solvents or resins thereby permitting the introduction of such excellent UV absorbing chromophores within diverse media and/or or diverse substrates. Compositions and articles comprising such compounds are provided as well as methods for producing such inventive compounds.

    • An inventive blue colorant comprising a chromophore having at least one hydroxy group-terminated polyester chain attached, through a suitable alkylamino linking group (or groups), to the 1- position, the 4- position, or both, of an anthraquinone backbone and having at least one hindering group in a secondary position in relation to said amino linking group is provided. Such colorants exhibit excellent amine/base stability and thermal stability, effective colorations, excellent low extraction rates, high lightfastness levels, particularly when incorporated within certain media and/or on the surface of certain polyurethane substrates, and, most importantly excellent stability in the presence of excess of diisocyanates. The polyester chain or chains can be conveniently tailored to increase the solubility or compatibility in different types of polyurethane resin precursors thereby permitting the introduction of such excellent coloring chromophores within diverse polyurethane media and/or or diverse polyurethane substrates as well as provides a liquid colorant which facilitates handling.     • Black polyurethane foams that exhibit higher strength black colorations without the need for concomitant increases in black colorants therein are provided. Such a resultant jetter black foam article is possible through the unexpectedly effective introduction of small amounts of certain toner compounds or combinations that exhibit specific measurable appearance characteristics. Such toners exhibit at least one absorption peak within a specific range of wavelengths (e.g., from about 560 to 610 nm) and specific ranges of half-height bandwidths (from 40 to 130 nm). Furthermore, such a compound or combination of compounds, is preferably liquid in nature (at room temperature) or in dispersion form and may thus be easily incorporated within target polyurethane precursor compositions for admixture with either black pigments (or dispersions thereof), black polymeric (liquid) colorants, or both. Methods of high strength black polyurethane foam production as well as separate pigmented and liquid polymeric colored foams of such type including the necessary toner compounds and/or combinations, as noted above, are also encompassed within this invention.

    • This invention provides a novel class of compounds and compositions and synthetic methods related to lactone antioxidant 3-arylbenzofuranones. The compounds may be useful to prevent yellowing and deterioration of organic materials preferably polymers, such as polyurethane foams as one example. The lactone antioxidants may be polymeric, and may also be liquid or paste in physical form at room temperature. Although it is not necessary for its stabilizing properties, the compositions may, in some species, bear one or more reactive primary OH groups on the polymer chains. The chains may also contain oligomeric oxyalkylene ether and aliphatic ester functional groups, in one embodiment of the invention.
