    • An improved modulator circuit (10) for mixing a modulation signal with a carrier signal includes a first harmonic mixer (20) and a second harmonic mixer (30). The mixers (20, 30) are operative to produce a modulated output signal with components corresponding to both the sums and the differences of the modulation signal frequency and the even harmonic frequencies of the carrier signal frequency. In one configuration employing a 90 degree hybrid (50), the output signals of the harmonic mixers (20, 30) are combined to produce a single sideband modulated output signal. A novel harmonic mixer circuit is also provided along with demodulator circuits and methods of modulating and demolulating modulation signals.

    • The present disclosure is directed to a balun circuit (100, 200, 300) adapted to operate at a frequency of between about 5 GHz to about 110 GHz. The balun circuit includes first (120, 220, 320) and second (130, 230, 330) output striplines and an input stripline (110, 210, 310) formed on a first surface of the substrate (101, 201, 301), and a slotline (140, 240, 340) formed on a second surface of the substrate opposite the first surface. The slotline has first (144, 244, 344) and second (146, 246, 346) ends, the first end overlapping the first output stripline and the second end overlapping the second output stripline, and the input stripline overlapping the slotline midway between the first end and the second end.
