    • The invention relates to a device for cutting a bundle of fibres, in particular a bundle of hard fibres, such as Kevlar fibres, into fibres. The device comprises a cutting plate with a cutting side and an opposing feed side as well as at least one hole for feeding the bundle from the feed side through the hole to the cutting side. The device furthermore comprises a blead head that has at least one blade and feed means for feeding the bundle through the hole from the feed side. The blade head is provided on the cutting side of the plate and equipped to move the at least one blade along the cutting side of the plate over the at least one hole such that the blade, on passing over the hole, in interaction with the part of the cutting plate that surrounds the hole, cuts off a portion of the bundle protruding from said hole for making the fibres. The invention furthermore relates to the use of such a device.

    • The invention relates, on the one hand, to a method for the production of hollow fibre membranes, which are suitable, for example, for gas separation and have a dense, non-porous top layer and a porous under layer, with the aid of a one-step process using a spinning head which has three concentrically arranged outlet openings, either a non-solvent for the relevant polymer, which instantaneously demixes the polymer solution, or a mixture of such a non-solvent and a solvent for the polymer, which mixture, depending on the solvent content, imparts to the polymer solution a behaviour which ranges from instantaneous demixing behaviour to delayed demixing behaviour, being fed through the innermost opening; a polymer solution being fed through the intermediate opening and a non-solvent which gives "delayed" demixing of the polymer solution being fed through the outermost opening, after which the three streams are directed together into a coagulation bath which contains a precipitation medium which instantly demixes the polymer solution, after which the resulting membrane is obtained. On the other hand, the invention relates to a method for the production, in the abovementioned manner, of hollow fibre membranes which are suitable, for example, for ultrafiltration and have both a porous top layer and a porous under layer, with which method - in contrast to the abovementioned method - a non-solvent which produces "instantaneous" demixing of the polymer solution is fed through the outermost opening.

    • The invention relates to a rotating cutting device (1) for continuously cutting one or more extruded strands which continuously emerge from one or more holes (5) in the end face (4) of an extrusion nozzle (3) to form pellets. The cutting device comprises a head (2) which can be coupled to a drive shaft so as to be rotatable about an axial head center axis (6); and a plurality of knife assemblies (7). Each knife assembly comprises a curved bearing arm(8). The first bearing arm end (9) is attached to the head so as to be pivotable about a pivot axis (11), which coincides with the longitudinal axis of said bearing arm at said first bearing arm end. The second bearing arm end (10) is provided with a knife holder (12). Each knife assembly furthermore comprises a tensioning mechanism (15) which is designed to tension the bearing arm of said knife assembly, independently from the arms of the other knife assemblies, in order to pivot said knife assembly about the pivot axis of the bearing arm. The tensioning mechanism of each knife assembly comprises an adjusting element (16) by means of which the tensioning force of the spring (14) of said knife assembly is adjustable independently from the other knife assemblies.
