    • The invention relates to a device for the electrospray ionisation of a liquid sample, comprising a capillary-type supply channel containing an electrode for the liquid sample and a plate provided with at least one passage for the ion stream that is formed, said plate being located at a distance from the free end of the supply channel, thus forming an ion formation clearance. According to the invention, a high potential differential is applied between the electrode of the supply channel and the plate.
