摘要： A method of converting vegetable-based organic acids into corresponding lower alcohol esters. According to the present method, the raw material which comprises organic acids is brought into contact with a lower alcohol in the presence of an acidic catalyst in order to esterify the acids. In the present invention, a reaction mixture is formed of the raw material, which comprises organic acids, and of lower alcohol, and this reaction mixture is brought into conditions under which the mixture cavitates in order to esterify the organic acids and to lower the acid number of the raw material to a value which is at maximum 20 % of the original acid number. With the present invention, it is possible by using esterification to produce, for instance from organic acids of tall oil, such as fatty acids, an inexpensive biodiesel fuel.

摘要： A method of treating tall oil pitch, which comprises sterol esters of fatty acids. According to the present invention, the esters of sterols and fatty acids are broken down, in which case especially formic acid esters or acetic acid esters of sterols are formed instead. The free fatty acids and sterol esters generated are distilled or separated in another way. Use of the present invention increases the yield of fatty acids and also facilitates the separation of sterols from tall oil pitch.

摘要： A method of treating tall oil pitch. In the present method, part of the fatty acids and the resin acids are released from their sterol esters and wood alcohol esters and converted into methanol esters or ethanol esters. The transesterified products are removed from the pitch by evaporation and then condensed, and by hydrogenating the generated condensate the acids are decarboxylated and the double bonds are satisfied. It is possible to use the present method to produce automotive fuel from tall oil pitch.
