摘要： A bed (10) intended for use by patients, particularly by those with Huntington's disease, comprises a perimeter rail (12) surrounding a mattress base (14). The perimeter rail provides a continuous internal padded perimeter wall from at least a level aligned with a top surface of the mattress (14) to a predetermined level above the surface of the mattress (14). The perimeter rail (12) comprises first and second bedheads (20) and first and second side rails (30), with the bedheads (20) and side rails (30) respectively disposed opposite each other. The perimeter rail (12) is generally rectangular in plan view and defines a receiving space (50) therewithin for receiving a separate mattress base (14) in use. The bedheads (20) and side rails (30) are mounted to side rail movement assemblies (40) respectively disposed at the four corner junctions between each adjacent bedhead (20) and side rail (30). The movement assemblies (40) support the bedheads (20) in a stationary manner and allow the side rails (30) to be raised or lowered relative to the bedheads (20).
