    • The cleaning of the interiors of tanks (1) can be carried out by means of a cleaning apparatus (5) with a nozzle (12) having a swivelling angle (41) which, according to the invention, is determined in such a manner that the turning points for the nozzle are precisely where the need for cleaning is the greatest. Moreover, the speed at which the nozzle (12) is swivelled can be steplessly varied so that the track of the cleaning jet can be adjusted to ensure the necessary and sufficient cleaning intensity. It is hereby achieved that the cleaning can be effected in the most economic manner, i.e. in the shortest possible time, while using the least possible cleaning fluid and energy. According to the invention, the nozzle (12) is moved by means of a turbine (14), a drive (15-20 and 24-30), a worm shaft (31), a worm wheel (32), a connecting link (35) and a pinion (38) which, via a rack (39), a shaft (23) and a pinion (42) on the nozzle (12), moves the nozzle in an oscillating, swinging movement (41). This construction ensures a simple and effective movement of the nozzle and provides the possibility of adjusting the nozzle's pattern of movement in accordance with the conditions inside the tank (1).

    • Tank cleaning equipment (20) according to the invention is mounted in a housing (18) over the opening (26) to a tank (5) and having a valve (16, 17) for the closing of the opening (26). Inside the housing (18) there is suspended a cleaning head (1) with movable nozzles (2) which are connected to a telescopic supply pipe (3) or an extendable hose (4) through which cleaning fluid under pressure can be conveyed to the nozzles (2). The extending of the fluid supply pipe (3, 4) is controlled by a drum drive (10) with a wire (7) which, over rollers (9), is connected (8) to the cleaning head (1), whereby the whole of the cleaning aggregate can be lowered into the tank (5) and housed completely in the housing (18) when cleaning is not being carried out. The equipement can thus be made very compact and is hereby well suited for permanent mounting on tanks, e.g. on tanker vessels, and the operation can be made automatic and independant of manual control and handling. This results in a more safe and environment-friendly cleaning as compared with the hitherto-known stationary installations in tanks.
