    • The invention relates to a method which is used to mark materials with coded microparticles which can be obtained by (i) polymerising at least one water-soluble monoethylenically unsaturated monomer in the presence of at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer having at least two double bonds in the molecule, by means of reverse water-in-oil-suspension polymerisation, whereby the nanoparticles doped as a suspension agent are used, (ii) emulsion polymerising of water-insoluble monoethylenically unsaturated monomers provided with 0 - 10 wt. %, in relation to the monomer mixture, of at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer provided with at least two double bonds in the molecule, whereby the nanoparticles doped as an emulsifier are used in order to stabilise the disperse phase, (iii) polymerising of at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer together with a copolymerisable dye, which comprises an ethylenically unsaturated double bond, and optionally agglomerating said particles or (iv) agglomerating at least two different groups of microparticles, which are different due to their absorption, emission and/or diffusion of electromagnetic radiation, to units having an average particle diameter of 300 nm to 500 ñm. The invention also relates to the use of the coded microparticles in order to mark materials and materials marked with the microparticles.
