    • Process for the production of bio-oil from biomass comprising: - subjecting said biomass to acid hydrolysis in the presence of an aqueous solution of at least one organic acid selected from alkyl- or aryl-sulfonic acids having from C7 to C20 carbon atoms, or from halogenated carboxylic acids, at a temperature ranging from 80 °C to 160 °C, obtaining a first mixture comprising a first solid phase and a first aqueous phase; - subjecting said first mixture to enzymatic hydrolysis, obtaining a second mixture comprising a second solid phase and a second aqueous phase; - subjecting said second aqueous phase to fermentation in the presence of at least one oleaginous yeast, obtaining an aqueous suspension comprising cells of said oleaginous yeast; - subjecting said aqueous suspension to thermal treatment obtaining an oily phase comprising bio-oil and a third aqueous phase. The bio-oil thus obtained can be advantageously used in the production of biofuels.

    • Process for the production of bio-oil from biomass including at least one polysaccharide comprising: subjecting said biomass to acid hydrolysis in the presence of an aqueous solution of at least one organic acid selected from alkyl- or aryl-sulf onic acids having from C 7 to C 20 carbon atoms, preferably from C 9 to C 15 carbon atoms, or from halogenated carboxylic acids, at a temperature ranging from 80 °C to 160 °C, preferably from 100 °C to 150 °C, obtaining a first mixture comprising a first solid phase and a first aqueous phase; subjecting said first mixture to enzymatic hydrolysis, obtaining a second mixture comprising a second solid phase and a second aqueous phase; subjecting said second aqueous phase to fermentation in the presence of at least one oleaginous yeast, obtaining an aqueous suspension comprising cells of said oleaginous yeast; subjecting said aqueous suspension to thermal treatment obtaining an oily phase comprising bio-oil and a third aqueous phase. The bio-oil thus obtained can be advantageously used in the production of biofuels which can be used as such, or in a mixture with other fuels, for motor vehicles. Or, said bio-oil can be used as such (bio-combustible), or in a mixture with fossil combustibles (combustible oil, lignite, etc.), for the generation of electric energy or heat.
