    • There is provided a pipe joint comprising at least one connection end wherein the or each connection end comprises: a wall defining a receiving recess for receiving an end of a pipe length; a tapered locking recess formed in an internal surface of the wall and containing a correspondingly tapered locking element; a through hole in the wall which communicates with the tapered locking recess; and a fixing element rotatable within the through hole and formed with a foot portion. In a first unlocked rotational position of the fixing element the foot is at least partially retracted from the locking recess; and in a second locked rotational position of the fixing element the foot extends into the locking recess to urge the locking element between the tapered locking recess and a pipe located within the connection end.

    • Pipe length comprising a first insert end (2) formed with at least one through slot (26) extending in a direction substantially parallel to a longitudinal axis of the pipe length, a second opposite coupling end (6) for receiving an insert end (2) of a second such pipe length, said coupling end (6) comprising at least one through hole (18) extending from an external surface of the coupling end (6) through to an internal surface of the coupling end (6), a sealing (16,22) arrangement for sealing the insert end (2) of the second pipe length within the coupling end (6) and at least one fixing element (20), the or each fixing element (20) extending through a corresponding one of the through holes (18) in the coupling end (6)and for engaging slideably within a corresponding one of the through slots (26) formed in the insert end (2) of the second pipe length. The arrangement is such that the insert end (2) of the second pipe length is slideable within the coupling end (6) on thermal expansion or contraction of the second pipe length.
