摘要： A method for processing data for display on a screen involves encoding (S50), using a first colour space, a first portion of image data intended to be displayed on a first area of the screen and encoding, using a second colour space, a second portion of image data intended to be displayed on a second area of the screen. The encoded first and second portions of the image data are compressed (S55), and transmitted (S60) over a link for display on the screen. By using different colour spaces to encode image data that is displayed in different parts of a screen differences in a user's vision and/or aberrations caused by display equipment may be accounted for and so provide an improved user experience. Using different colour spaces for different screen areas may also reduce the amount of data that needs to be transmitted, for example by encoding image data more effectively and/or allowing more efficient compression of data.

Each display controller (21) also receives position information relating to a change in lateral position and/or stacking order position of one or more bounded regions that are to be displayed at least partly on that display panel (21). If the display controller (24) determines that it does not have knowledge of display data in the bounded region (S2, S3, S4, S5) to be displayed on the display panel for which the position information was received, it obtains that knowledge from another display controller (24) that has such knowledge. The display controller (24) then processes the display data for the portion of the complete image utilising the knowledge obtained from another display controller (24),and outputs the processed display data for the portion of the complete image to the corresponding display panel (21).

摘要： A method of compressing image data involves determining an active area of an image to be displayed, at least part of which changes from frame to frame to provide a moving image. Colour values for each pixel in at least part of the active area that has changed are determined (S73) and a resolution of a blue component of the colour values is dynamically reduced (S75) relative to resolutions of green and red components of the colour values. The image data is then transmitted, together with error correction information indicating how to correct the blue component when the image data is displayed. The active area may be a particularly fast changing part of the image or an area on which a user is focussed.

Pixel data associated with the at least one changed area is also received.
