    • In a process for building tyres for vehicle wheels, a carcass sleeve (3) is arranged on a shaping drum (1) comprising two half-drums (15) and two supports (16). Each support is operatively associated with one of the half-drums (15) and carries a plurality of turning-up levers (28) having free ends (28b) positioned close to the respective half-drum (15). Two annular anchoring structures (4) are disposed around the carcass sleeve (3) and each of the two supports (16) is locked to the respective half-drum (15) by interposing only stiff mechanical elements in mutual contact between the support (16) and the half-drum (15). The carcass sleeve (3) is shaped in a toroidal conformation, by setting a threaded shaft (27) in rotation and moving the half- drums (15) close to each other. Subsequently, each of the two supports (16) is unlocked from the respective half-drum (15) and the threaded shaft (27) is set in rotation to move each support (16) close to the respective half-drum (15) and lift up the free ends (28b) of the turning-up levers (28) until the end flaps of the carcass sleeve (3) are turned up around the annular anchoring structures (4).

    • In an apparatus for building tyres for vehicle wheels, a forming drum (13) is loaded on a shuttle (17) movable on a guide (16) along a deposition line (L). The shuttle (17) is moved on the guide (16) in the two running directions (SI, S2) to bring it to dispensing stations (19, 20, 21; 22, 23, 24, 25, 26) of semifinished products (4a, 4b, 5; 22a, 23a, 24a, 25a, 26a) disposed in at least some deposition locations (18i, 18ii, 18iii, 18iv, 18v, 18vi) positioned in space succession along the deposition line (L).     • A method and an apparatus (1) for cutting a ribbon (2) of rubber-coated fabric including a plurality of reinforcing cords (3), intended in particular for manufacturing semi-finished reinforcing products of a green tire, are described. The method of the invention comprises the steps of forming at a working position (W) a notch (24) of predetermined length extending between two adjacent cords (3) along a cutting direction (C-C) by means of a punching device (4) cooperating with an abutting counter-blade (7); inserting at least one cutting blade (19) through the notch (24) causing the same to pass at least partly over the lying plane of the ribbon (2); and carrying out a first and a second cut of the ribbon (2) by shifting the blade (19) along the cutting direction (C-C) for a first portion extending between the notch (24) and a first lateral edge (25) of the ribbon (2) and, respectively, for a second portion extending between the notch (24) and an opposite lateral edge (26) of the ribbon (2). Advantageously, the risk of damaging or cutting the reinforcing cords (3) is minimized, thereby minimizing both the amount of production scraps and the risk of jamming the automatic machines for manufacturing green tires.
