    • A powered air purifying respirator (PAPR) for delivering a forced flow of filtered air to a wearer is disclosed. The PAPR comprises a turbo unit with turbo unit components including a fan, an electric motor, and an electronic control unit having a wireless electronic control transceiver, the fan being driven by the electric motor under the control of the electronic control unit and the electronic control unit being configured to send and receive information via the electronic control transceiver; a turbo unit power source that provides power to the turbo unit components; a turbo remote control unit having a wireless turbo remote control transceiver; at least one turbo status indicator unit, adapted to indicate a current operating status of the turbo unit and/or turbo unit components, having a wireless turbo status transceiver; wherein at least one of the turbo remote control unit and turbo status indicator unit is remote from the turbo unit, and wherein at least two of the electronic control transceiver, the turbo remote control transceiver and the turbo status transceiver are in wireless communication with each other.

    • Methods for imparting an image to a painted exterior surface on a motor vehicle and kits for use in such methods are described. The methods include applying a mask to an outer clearcoat layer of the painted exterior surface, the mask having a masked portion that covers part of the clearcoat layer and an open portion that leaves part of the clear coat layer exposed, the masked and open portions cooperating to define the image, abrading the exposed part of the clearcoat layer to provide it with a matte finish, and removing the mask to reveal an image having a matte finish region and an unabraded region. The clearcoat layer in the matte finish region of the image is capable of being provided with a surface gloss appearance that is consistent with the surface gloss appearance of the clearcoat layer in the unabraded region of the image and without painting the surface of the motor vehicle. The kits comprise a mask that is adapted to be removably attached to the outer clearcoat layer and an abrasive that is capable of removing a portion of the outer clearcoat layer to generate an image having a matte finish region and an unabraded region, and one or more materials that may be used to provide the outer clearcoat layer in the matte finish region of the image with a surface gloss appearance that is consistent with the surface gloss appearance of the clearcoat layer in the unabraded region of the image.

    • A method of controlling a powered air purifying respirator blower system to deliver a substantially uniform volumetric airflow to a user (6) includes the steps of determining one of (a) ambient air density or (b) ambient air temperature and ambient air pressure, and adjusting an electrical characteristic of the electric motor (22) in response to said determination and said at least two calibration values. The powered air purifying respirator blower system may include a fan (21) powered by an electric motor (22), the motor being controlled by an electronic control unit (23) for delivering a forced flow of filtered air to a user (06). The electronic control unit (23) may include at least two calibration values for the electrical characteristics of the electric motor (22) stored therein. The system may include at least one sensor (26) adapted to be in communication with the electronic control unit and arranged to determine one of (a) ambient air density or (b) ambient air temperature and ambient air pressure.
