    • An elastomeric mastic sealant composition and method of manufacturing are disclosed. In certain embodiments, the composition may include between about 13 and about 19 weight percent or between about 11 and about 15 volume percent of acrylate-acrylonitrile copolymer. The composition may further comprise one or more of between about 36 and about 41 weight percent or between about 29 and about 34 volume percent of styrenated acrylic polymer; between about 1 and about 2 weight percent or between about 0.9 and about 1.7 volume percent of surfactant; between about 0.6 and about 1.4 weight percent or between about 0.4 and about 1 volume percent of dispersant; and between about 0.4 and about 1 weight percent or between about 29 and about 40 volume percent of pre-expanded compressible microspheres having an organic outer surface and introduced by a closed mixing system into the copolymer. In some implementations, the disclosed composition and method forms a closed-cell, semi-foam, mastic sealant using gas-filled, flexible, organic microspheres to create a product that once cured, is elastic and compressible under pressure without unduly protruding in an outward direction when compressed, thereby allowing the applied sealant to compress in an enclosed, maximum-filled channel unlike typical mastic sealants (while retaining the ability to rebound). This allows the sealant in such implementations to function as a gasket, and to have properties including vibration damping, insulating, and/or condensation resistance.

    • In one embodiment, a method for making a high density structural composite includes depositing a plurality of fibrous materials on or adjacent a first plate or surface. A polymer liquid is deposited onto the plurality of fibrous materials to form a composite mixture. A first cyclic pressure is applied onto the composite mixture to compress the composite mixture. In some embodiments, the cyclic pressure may then be reduced to a valley pressure to complete a pressurization cycle. In some instances, the valley pressure may be below atmospheric pressure to induce trapped air and volatile gases to escape from the composite mixture before curing. The pressurization cycle may be repeated. A second pressure, which may be a constant pressure in some embodiments, may be applied to the composite mixture using, in some embodiments, a second plate until the polymer liquid has at least partially cured or partially solidified.

    • Exemplary apparatuses, systems, and methods are provided to produce steam for use in oil field applications. In some embodiments, a catalyst is provided that includes a plurality of ceramic bodies impregnated with an alkaline-promoted manganese oxide. In other embodiments, the catalyst includes a plurality of bodies formed of an active ceramic oxide in a consolidated state without an underlying ceramic body. The bodies are contacted with a liquid hydrogen peroxide having a strength, in one embodiment, between about 30 and about 70 weight percent to produce steam. The steam is directed to an oil field application, such as, but not limited to, a geologic formation to increase oil production from the geologic formation, an applicator to clean oilfield equipment, a heat exchanger to heat hydrogen peroxide, or a heat exchanger to heat living quarters.
