    • A tissue fusing clamp comprises a pair of components pivotably attached, having a component end with a finger loop for manipulation of the components, and each component having a fusing end comprising fusing jaws that are able to be motivated towards one another into a closed position. A depressor depresses tissue between the tissue areas to be fused, resulting in a tightening of the tissue after fusing. The fusing jaws may each comprise a fusing element, such as an ultrasonic transducer or laser, that is in electrical communication with a fusing circuit for providing electrical power to the fusing element as desired by a user. The fusing circuit may be controlled by use of a foot switch or other controller that may be manipulated by the user when it is desired to activate the fusing elements.

    • An LED lighting array for illuminating an area with the lighting array comprising a plurality of LED devices set in conical or elliptically conical reflectors, each of which is mounted upon a plate, each of which may be set at various angles to one other, and each of which is backed by a series of elements, first a copper support element, then an optional layer of graphite foam, followed by an aluminum plate, and then an arrangement of copper fins operably lined to a thermal mass mate. The copper support element includes support planes that are off-set relative to each adjacent plate and are in at least three different planes relative to each other. The backing plates may efficiently dissipate heat produced by the LEDs. The apparatus can be mounted upon a stand to illuminate an area such as a portion of a car park, building entrance or the like.

    • Photovoltaic cells are semiconductor devices known in the art to produce an electric current in the presence of light when placed in a closed electric circuit. The amount of electric current generated is typically a function of the area of the cell exposed to light. The invention is an improved photovoltaic cell comprised of multiple layers of semiconductor material forming N-P junctions with interdispersed light transmitting particles. The light transmitting particles (8) act as waveguides enabling light (12) to be transmitted through multiple layers of semiconductor material (10, 15) to lower N-P layers (11), where they are absorbed, generating an electric current. Photovoltaic cells of a plurality of layers and in varying dimensions may be fabricated, yielding a variety of form factors available to the photovoltaic cell designer and enabling photovoltaic cell use in numerous applications. The invention is also directed to a method for fabricating such photovoltaic cells.

    • An apparatus for rotating a bed-ridden person in order to prevent pressure sores, or bed sores, comprising an first set of bladders and a second set of bladders, and at least one fluid pump, which may be an air pump, in fluid communication with the bladders through a system of fluid valves. Inflating first set of bladders will cause a patient to be rotated onto their right side; likewise, inflating the second set of bladders will cause a patient to be rotated onto their left side. A patient may therefore be rotated from left side to right side in order to prevent pressure, or bed, sores from occurring. The invention may be programmed to rotate persons automatically on any predetermined timing, and in any sequence, desired, or by manual command. The invention also comprises a pump and valve assembly for low pressure applications.
