    • The invention provides a method for controlling writing of data to a data storage card having a device controller and a storage medium. The method comprises: the device controller receiving a meta data synchronization disable command and entering a first mode in response, the first mode being characterized in that the device controller does not synchronize meta data related to a data write request for writing the data to the storage medium, leaving corresponding unsynchronized meta data; the device controller receiving a data write request for writing the data; the device controller effecting the data write request, whereby the data are written on the storage medium but the meta data related to the data write request is not synchronized to the storage medium. Other aspects provide corresponding device controller and software/firware.

    • Methods and apparatus for coordinating audio data processing and network communication processing in a communication device. In an exemplary method lower and upper threshold values for use by a network communication processing circuit are set, the lower and upper threshold values defining a window of timing offsets relative to each of a series of periodic network communications frame boundaries. A series of encoded audio data frames are sent to the network communication processing circuit for transmission over the network communications link. The delivery of encoded audio data to the network communication processing circuit outside of the corresponding time window defined by the threshold values will trigger an event report. This event report is received from the network communication processing circuit by the audio data processing circuit, and, in response, timing is adjusted for the sending of one or more of the encoded audio data frames.

    • The current invention relates to thin planar optical devices and how undesired light rays in certain directions can be filtered in a controlled way. By reducing light in unwanted directions, a better performance can be achieved for, e.g., grating-based constructs such as a spectrometer/spectrograph. The present invention allows for filtering of the unwanted light inside the optical construct, thus minimizing the need for external manipulation of the incoming light fed into the optical device. To achieve the filtering effect, light is allowed to be partially transmitted into at least one of the interfaces of interest. By choosing suitable material properties and geometries of the whole construct, the filtering effect can be tuned within a wide range.
