摘要： Described are wrought forms of copper alloys (20) for infiltrating powder metal parts (1), the method for preparing the copper alloys and their wrought forms, the method for their infiltration into a powder metal part, and the infiltrated metal part infiltrated with the novel alloys having a generally uniform distribution throughout and exhibiting high transverse rupture strength, tensile strength and yield strength. Infiltrated metal parts prepared by infiltrating powder metal parts with reduced amounts of the novel infiltrant typically weigh less and have superior strengths compared to similarly prepared infiltrated metal parts prepared with standard methods and conventional infiltration.

摘要： This disclosure relates to a family of micronutrient supplements that can be used in food or in animal feeds and to methods of enhancing the growth of animals using one or more of the supplements. The family of micronutrient supplements is an ammine chloride salt of an essential metal. Representative essential metals for use according to this disclosure include a divalent or trivalent cation of zinc, copper, manganese, magnesium, chrome, iron, cobalt and calcium. When provided as a metal ammine chloride salt, the essential metal is highly bioavailable to enhance the survivability, growth, health and/or reproductivity of animals. The micronutrient supplement can be administered to animals either as a single supplement or admixed with other nutrients or feeds.

摘要： An in vitro method is provided for identifying nuclear receptors abnormally expressed by brain tumor stem cells and a corresponding ligand which, if administered to brain tumor stem cells (BTSC's), is capable of inhibiting cell proliferation. Once the nuclear receptor/ligand combination has been identified, it can be utilized in vitro and in vivo to inhibit the proliferation and survival of the cancerous stem cells and ultimately affect proliferation and survival of tumors. The method can be utilized alone or in combination with other treatment methods. The method can also be utilized with regard to other forms of cancer which have cancerous stem cells associated therewith and which abnormally express one or more nuclear receptors.

摘要： An animal feed is provided that employs a substantially indigestible cation exchanger capable of binding ammonium cations and an acidogenic substance to acidify an animal's manure and thereby create ammonium cations that can be bound by the cation exchanger. The animal feed reduces ammonia emissions from manure produced by animals fed the animal feed compared to the emissions obtained from manure when an acidogenic substance is fed alone and compared to the emissions obtained from manure when a cation exchange capacity material is fed alone. Other aspects provide a method of lowering ammonia emissions from manure is provided. One embodiment provides a method for reducing soluble phosphorus levels in manure and a method for reducing total phosphorus levels in manure. In a further aspects present a method that yields manure that may be used alone or in concert with other materials to act as a fertilizer having advantageous ecological properties. Another aspect provides a method for reducing insect populations associated with manure. One embodiment is a composition for amending animal feed to produce animal waste that is lower in volatile ammonia and higher in nitrogen.
