    • Encoding a video signal including pictures includes generating perceptual representations based on the pictures. Reference pictures are selected and motion vectors are generated based on the perceptual representations and the reference pictures. The motion vectors and pointers for the reference pictures are provided in an encoded video signal. Decoding may include receiving pointers for reference pictures and motion vectors based on perceptual representations of the reference pictures. The decoding of the pictures in the encoded video signal may include selecting reference pictures using the pointers and determining predicted pictures, based on the motion vectors and the selected reference pictures. The decoding may include generating reconstructed pictures from the predicted pictures and the residual pictures.

    • A method and system generates and distributes unique cryptographic device keys. The method includes generating at least a first device key and encrypting the first device key with a first encrypting key to produce a first encrypted copy of the device key. The method also includes encrypting the first device key with a second encrypting key to produce a second encrypted copy of the device key. The second encrypting key is different from said first encrypting key. The first and second encrypted copies of the device keys are associated with a device ID identifying a computing device being manufactured. The second encrypted copy of the device key is loaded onto the computing device. The first encrypted copy of the device key and the device ID with which it is associated are stored onto at least one server for subsequent use after the computing device has been deployed to a customer.

    • A block based sampling (BBS) encoding system to process an incoming video signal into a compressed video bitstream. The BBS encoding system includes a processor to determine anchor blocks in a picture from the incoming video signal. The processor is also to encode the anchor blocks in the picture, and may also encode interpolated blocks in the picture using at least one of the encoded anchor blocks. There is also a block based sampling (BBS) decoding system to decode pictures from an incoming compressed video bitstream. The BBS decoding system includes a processor to receive the incoming compressed video bitstream including anchor block coding decisions about anchor blocks in a pattern in a picture, and decode the received anchor block coding decisions to form the anchor blocks in the pattern in the picture.

    • A Service Key Delivery (SKD) system for delivering a service keys to client devices in a communications network. The delivered service keys are operable to be used to decrypt an encrypted key operable to be used to decrypt an encrypted digital content. The SKD system includes a data input interface for receiving a distribution time frame for the keys and a listing of client device identifications. The SKD system also includes a scheduling module to partition at least part of the distribution time frame into a number of time slots in which the number may be based on a variety of factors. The scheduling module assigns the time slots in the partitioned part of the distribution time frame to the client devices based on the identifications in the listing. The SKD system also includes a message generator configured to send key delivery messages to the client devices.

    • There is a coding including-preparing coding units based on source pictures. The coding units are associated with largest coding tree units (LCTUs) which are polygons of source pictures. A tree format is utilized in processing the LCTUs into coding units. The preparing includes calculating an efficiency measure associated with a source picture position in a coordinate system based on fitting the coordinate system and the source picture with respect to each other. The preparing includes determining the source picture position based on a coding efficiency goal. The preparing includes determining padding areas. The source picture and padding areas are divided into LCTUs based on the coordinate system and the determined source picture position. The LCTUs are partitioned into coding units based on the tree format and a homogeneity rule. There is also a decoding including processing video compression data which is generated based on the coding units.

    • In one embodiment, a method includes displaying a portion of a plurality of devices in a viewing area on an interface. The portion of the plurality of devices are controllable automatically through the interface. A selection of a device in the portion of the plurality of devices is received. A first set of devices in the plurality of devices is determined that includes a similar controllable feature as the selected device. A second set of devices in the portion of the plurality of devices that does not include the similar controllable feature is also determined. The method then replaces the second set of devices with the first set of devices in the viewing area. The similar controllable feature for the selected device and the first set of devices is controllable through the interface.

    • There is an encoding of three dimensional (3D) information. The encoding may include receiving a signal including frames in a 3D video sequence, receiving caption information to appear in a caption window associated with the frames, and/or receiving disparity information associated with the frames. The encoding may also include determining frame disparity maps based on the disparity information associated with the frames. The frame disparity maps may be determined by dividing a part of a frame into a plurality of grid cells. The grid cells may define a disparity measure associated with locations in a grid. The grid cells may form a caption window disparity map dividable into equivalent size portions including an equivalent amount of grid cells. The encoding may also include encoding the frames, the caption information and the frame disparity maps. There is also a decoding of the 3D information.
