    • Techniques are disclosed for providing remote access to virtual machine (VM) serial port interfaces of cloud applications through automated serial port concentration techniques. A coordination agent can be deployed, and a virtual serial port concentrator (VSPC) module can be deployed along with VMs of a cloud application. The coordination agent can determine that the cloud application has entered a running state, determine an IP address of the VSPC module, and cause a serial port interface of each VM to be coupled with the VSPC module. The VSPC module can allocate local ports for the VMs and report the port numbers to the coordination agent to be provided to a client. The client can transmit data for a serial port connection to a particular VM through the VSPC module by sending the traffic to the IP address of the VSPC module at a particular port associated with the particular VM.

    • A method and apparatus for routing transmit and receive signals in a radio RF front end. According to one aspect, the disclosure provides a multiplexer method and apparatus for routing transmit signals to an antenna and routing amplified receive signals to a receiver. The multiplexer includes a first hybrid coupler having a first frequency response and at least one other hybrid coupler having a second frequency response. The at least one other hybrid coupler is coupled to the first hybrid coupler by a first and second splitters each cascaded with a set of amplifying circuits for balanced amplification. In some embodiments, the second frequency response complements the first frequency response to increase cancellation of two signals arriving at an output port of the at least one other hybrid coupler from two different paths through the first and the at least one other hybrid couplers.

    • A system is adapted to generate a configuration for a service provider system to provide a highly available (HA) service. The system first identifies type stacks that provide the HA service and one or more component types in each type stack. Each type stack is a combination of prototypes that describe features and capabilities of available software providing the HA service. The system estimates, for each component type in the type stacks, a mean-time- to-recover (MTTR) of the HA service based on time for completing an actual recovery action in response to a component failure. The system further estimates service availability provided by each type stack based on the MTTR and a mean-time-to-failure (MTTF) of each component type in the type stack. The system then eliminates one or more of the type stacks that do not satisfy a requested service availability before proceeding to subsequent steps of configuration generation.

    • In one aspect, the teachings herein provide point-to-point communication between all the virtual machines (VMs) belonging to the same tenant in a cloud-based virtual network environment without using any intermediate routing functions, and while providing full virtualization at the L2 and L3 levels. That is, the approach preserves completely isolated address spaces for each tenant at both L2 and L3 levels and supports multiple subnets for each tenant, and thereby allows tenants to define their own virtual networks without requiring the addition of expensive centralized routing and without requiring inter-subnet communications for the same tenant to traverse sub-optimal paths, as happens with software- based routers implemented in one of the VMs belonging to the tenant. Moreover, the methods and apparatuses taught herein provide a distributed solution for communicating between subnets belonging to the same virtual or logical network, thereby avoiding single-point-of- failure issues and offering improved scalability.
