    • An apparatus for improving' exhaust gas recirculation performance is provided which induces improved exhaust gas recirculation flow during engine operating transients, including transients in which exhaust gas flow conditions are unfavorable. The apparatus includes a fresh air intake passage with a venturi section and an exhaust gas recirculation passage outlet, preferably in the form of a pitot tube, arranged in the fresh air intake passage adjacent to the venturi section such that a pressure-reducing flow in the fresh air is induced as a result of the Coanda effect. Establishing Coanda flow adjacent to the exhaust gas recirculation outlet substantially assists in drawing exhaust gas into the fresh air intake flow in transient operating conditions, including unfavorable exhaust-to-intake pressure difference conditions. The Coanda flow also assists in more rapid and thorough mixing the gases to provide a homogeneous mixture to minimize NOx production during engine operating transients.

When the torque applied to the external feature exceeds a predetermined torque, the balls of the ball detent clutch move out of their retaining detents, thereby disengaging the slack adjuster's worm shaft from the adjustment mechanism and permitting brake shoe retraction without resistance from the adjustment mechanism.

    • A method and system for discovering a control event from electronically published documents is provided, in which a control program on a computer identifies electronically published documents stored in a plurality of network servers which potentially contain control events relevant to the control of goods and/or services, the control events being identified by reference to a user interest database containing user interest identifiers. Identified documents are analyzed by a classification program to determine whether control events are present, referring to a control event database. A control event classification is assigned to documents determined to contain at least one discovered control event, the assigned control event classification and information identifying the associated document is stored in a classification database, and a report of discovery of documents containing control events is be provided to a user.     • An improved brake spider and anchor pin assembly in which weight, cost, manufacture, axle installation and maintenance is improved over prior brake spider designs. The improved brake spider is built up from light weight, relatively inexpensive stampings which are joined together, for example by welding, to form a strong built-up brake spider component. In one embodiment, two steel stampings formed with flanges and stamped strengthening ribs are welded together to form a hollow, structure which has the strength to withstand high brake force loads and large numbers of brake cycles. The built up brake spider may include one or more captured inserts in the form of anchor pin assemblies and a brake actuator rod pass-through support. The anchor pin insert may be in the form of a trunion having a middle section with a greater diameter than corresponding holes in the shell plates to preclude axial motion.
