    • An auto-configuration arrangement enables a general-purpose mobile terminal (12) or user equipment (UE) (12) and an access network having specific native or standardized codecs (24) and media formats to conform to one another and to thus optimize resource utilization in the access network. (10) When the UE (12) is attached to the access network (10), UE (12) and user identifier information is signaled by the UE (12) to a configuration node(18) implemented in the access network (10). The configuration node(18) acquires information details regarding the UE (12), and also relevant user subscription information, by retrieval from one or more access network registers. The configuration node (18) then uses the detailed information together with access network specific information to decide what QoS definition and type of codec (24) to select for use, and assembles the selected definitions and codecs (24), such as by retrieval from a repository. The configuration node (18) sends the selected QoS definitions and codecs (24) to the UE (12), and the UE (12) configures itself in accordance therewith by means of a configuration layer residing in the UE (12).

    • The present invention discloses a method for making web servers more language independent by scanning the HTML files therein for unique language dependent text phrases and replacing these phrases with unique identities leaving the language independent content unchanged. The unique language dependent text phrases are stored in separate text phrase files. These files are translated into a number of desired browser languages resulting in one set for each language. When receiving a request for a file, the web server scans the file for unique identities, and, if any, fetches the corresponding text phrases from one or more files in the set of files being translated to the language of the browser used by the requesting terminal. Then, the web server provides the requesting terminal with a response comprising the file wherein the found unique identities are replaced by the fetched text phrases. In this way, only one set of HTML pages common for all languages is needed in addition to text phrase files. Thus, no data is repeated, and this allows for integration of web server functionality on memory-limited devices like mobile devices.

    • A system and a method for coding and decoding video data are invented. In a system and method of video data compression a video frame (32) is divided into a sequence of image blocks (38), wherein one of several possible block-coding modes is an implicit global motion compensation (IGMC) mode, which is used to copy pixels from a previous frame (32) displaced by a predicted motion vector. In another embodiment of the invention, a system and method of a video data compression, a video frame (32) is segmented into a sequence of slices (36), wherein each slice (36) includes a number of macroblocks (38). Respective slices (36) are encoded and a signal is included in the header (44) of an encoded slice (40) to indicate whether the slice (40) is GMC enabled, that is, whether global motion compensation is to be used in reconstructing the encoded slice. If so, GMC information, such as information representing a set of motion vectors (42a-42d), is included with the slice. In a useful embodiment each slice (36) of a frame (32) contains the same GMC information, to enhance resiliency against errors. In another embodiment different slices (36) of a frame (32) contain different GMC information. In either embodiment, motion vectors (42a-42d) for each image of a particular encoded slice (40) can be reconstructed using GMC information contained only in the particular encoded slice.

    • A method of delegating responsibility for an IP address owned by a first IP network node to a second IP network node, at least a part of the IP address being derivable from a public key of a public/private key pair belonging to the first node. The method comprises notifying the first node of a public key of a public/private key pair belonging to the second node, at the first node, signing the public key of the second node with the private key of the first node to provide an authorisation certificate, and sending the authorisation certificate from the first node to the second node, wherein the authorisation certificate is subsequently included with messages relating to said IP address and signed with the private key of the second node, sent from the second node to receiving nodes, and is used by the receiving nodes to verify the second node's claim on the IP address.
