    • Determining a location of a user device comprises a wireless computing system supported by an access point. The wireless computing system receives a signal from the user device. The system estimates a location of the user device based on RSSI and calculates a boundary around the estimated location. The wireless computing system selects a plurality of sections inside of the boundary and performs a coarse calculation of a location of the user device based on an angle of arrival of the received signal. The system determines sections of the plurality of sections that have results from the coarse calculation that are more likely to be a location of the user device. The system performs a fine calculation of the location based on the angle of arrival of the received signal within each of the sections. The system identifies a particular section as the location of the user device.

    • Intelligent powered device (PD) control system including a switch system, state detector (SD), intelligent control device (ICD), and a PD. The switch system includes one or more conventional electrical switches. Each switch includes an interface to receive selection of a switch system state change between conductive and non-conductive states. The switch system includes a conductor pair(s) indicative of switch system state based on the selection. The SD signals the detected state to the ICD. The switch system output is in electrical connection with the detector such that, in the conductive state a loopback is formed in the switch system and SD, and in the non-conductive state no loopback is formed. The ICD receive the message from the state detector and transmits a fixture control command based on the message. The PD receives the command from the ICD via the data communications network, and controls its state based on the command.

    • A method for providing secure offline payments comprises an account system that communicates a signed balance certificate to a user device. The system accesses the user's account, determines the available unlocked funds, creates and signs a balance certificate, and transmits the signed balance certificate to the user device. To complete an offline payment transaction, the user device and a merchant device establish a communication channel. The merchant device transmits a payment request to the user device. A signed withdrawal record and the signed balance certificate are transmitted to the merchant device for verification and completion of the offline payment transaction. The merchant device signs the withdrawal record, transmits it to the user device, and saves it until the merchant device has network access and can transmit the it to the system. The system verifies the withdrawal record and records it in the user's account.
