    • A cleaning device provides for quick, thorough and pleasant multi-parallel cleaning of teeth and gums through use of a pressurized cleaning liquid, applied to teeth and gums by a cleaning headpiece with a plurality of cleaning nozzles and with optimized and practical geometry as well as readily applicable control of the clean by the user. Sensations of suffocating or drowning, which can be serious detriments and hindrances of prior art devices, are effectively overcome. In a preferred embodiment, teeth are cleaned in two steps, where each step cleans the teeth and gums in just over one side of the user's jaws. The device can simply be extracted, flipped by 180 degrees and reinserted into the mouth between the two steps.

    • A method for reducing thermal effects in laser ablation optical emission spectrometry includes creating discrete ablation spots along an analysis line on a target surface. At least one of the following is also carried out. First, the ablation spots are positioned so that a pair of successive ablation spots are spaced apart from one another along the analysis line and are separated from one another by another ablation spot. Second, when the analysis line comprises generally parallel, adjacent analysis line segments, the ablation spots are positioned so that (A) a pair of successive ablation spots are on different analysis line segments, and (B) the successive ablation spots are positioned to be at different longitudinal positions along the analysis line segments when the different analysis line segments are adjacent to one another. As a result, a linear scan of isolated ablation spots can be generated.

    • The present disclosure relates to mechanically refrigerated retail and vending display systems and methods or use for extending the shelf-life of perishable products in the retail or vending setting. This is accomplished by maintaining an appropriate modified and controlled atmosphere (MA/CA) environment for the perishable product in a retail or vending display unit. The systems and methods of the invention maintain the MA/CA environment for a time period of 10 days or longer, wherein the marketable shelf-life of a perishable product is at least doubled. The systems may also operate in a power generation/power production mode, such that the fuel cells maintain the MA/CA environment while providing both primary and/or back- up power.

    • A cooking apparatus includes a spatula assembly and a cooking container comprising an upper access opening and an inner, cooking surface having a spherical surface portion. The spatula assembly includes a spatula driver and a curved spatula pivotally mounted to the cooking container for moving along the cooking surface and about a pivot axis between first and second positions. The pivot axis passes through the center point of the spherical surface portion. The spatula assembly may be constructed so that at least one of the first and second positions is above the pivot axis. The curved spatula may also include a spatula body having an outer surface and a barrier member extending radially inwardly from the outer surface, the outer surface contacting the cooking surface of the cooking container.
