    • Access terminals are adapted to receive and transmit data during one or more frames in a multiframe. Power measurements for a neighboring cell can be scheduled during one or more frames not intended for power measurements. In some examples, the one or more frames not intended for power measurements can include an Idle frame and/or a Packet Timing Advance Control Channel (PTCCH) frame in a 52-frame multiframe structure, as well as an Idle frame and/or a Slow Associated Control Channel (SACCH) frame in a 26-frame multiframe structure. Some access terminals may be adapted for facilitating multiple subscriptions, and may operate at least substantially simultaneously in a Connected mode subscription and an Idle mode subscription. In such instances, a neighboring cell for which power measurements are performed may be associated with the Connected mode subscription and/or the Idle mode subscription. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.

    • The various embodiments provide systems, devices, and methods which optimize the way in which data is delivered between devices a group of interconnected devices. In one embodiment a data set intended for multiple devices may be segmented and different portions of the data set may be provided to each device. The intended devices may then share their data set portions to recreate the complete data set on each device. In another embodiment, multiple devices each storing a complete data set may need to upload the complete data set to a single device. The multiple devices may assign upload responsibility for segments of the complete data set among each other, and the multiple devices may each upload their assigned segments to the single device. The single device may then combine the segments to recreate the complete data set.

    • Methods and devices provide an efficient user interface for initiating a function by detecting an ellipsoidal continuous touch path on a touch surface of a computing device. In an embodiment the initiated function may end an application. A user may initiate the function operation by tracing an ellipsoidal shape (e.g., a circle) a touchscreen or touchpad. A display image may be contorted to inform the user about the progress towards accomplishing the function. The function operation of contorting the display image may begin at a minimum measure of the traced path and complete at a maximum measure of the traced path. In an embodiment, terminating an application and returning to the home display may be achieved in response to a clockwise path trace and minimizing of an application and returning to home display may be achieved in response to a counterclockwise path trace, or vice versa.

    • A method, system and devices for enabling secure pairing between two communication devices equipped with a minimal user interface includes determining a verification pattern based upon security information exchanged between the two communication devices and presenting the verification pattern in a manner that can be perceived by a user who can determine whether the verification patterns are the same. The verification patterns may be presented as flashing light displays, such as flashing sequences of a light emitting diode, or as sounds, such as tones or click patterns emitted by a speaker. If a user perceives that the verification patterns emitted by both communication devices are the same, the user may so indicate by pressing a button on each of the devices. Obtaining such user confirmation of the verification patterns enables establishing a secure pairing between the two communication devices that is protected from active and passive eavesdropping.

    • Methods and devices for preventing unauthorized use of mobile devices allow users to create a mobile device identification number (MDIN) which must be entered before mobile devices can access a new removable memory unit. Upon activation a mobile device may check an identifier of an installed removable memory unit to determine if the memory unit has been changed. If the mobile device determines that the memory unit is new, it may prompt the user to enter the MDIN. If the entry made by the user matches the MDIN stored in secure memory, the mobile device will access the new memory unit and function normally. However, if the entry does not match the MDIN stored in memory the mobile device may not access the new memory unit, thereby denying use of the mobile device. Example removable memory units include Subscriber Identity Modules, Universal Integrated Circuit Cards, and Removable User Identity Modules.
