    • Microduct coupling and termination devices are provided. One coupling system includes a support structure with first and second sides. Multiple couplers are configured to receive corresponding microducts on the first side. Each coupler includes a wall connected to the support structure, which defines a cavity for receiving a microduct on the support structure first side. Each coupler removably retains the microduct within the cavity and provides a seal between the wall and microduct. A port adapter has a base unit, a hinged cover, at least one cable port, and support structure with multiple couplers that receive and removably retain microducts. A microduct coupling panel has multiple couplers connected to a planar frame in a grid arrangement. A perimeter of the panel can removably couple with a corresponding coupling portion of at least one of a terminal enclosure and a port adaptor.

    • Some embodiments provide methods and systems for casting articles. One example of a method includes providing and positioning a thermal blanket within a mold cavity and then introducing a molten material into the mold cavity and into contact with the thermal blanket. The method allows the molten material to remain in a molten state during a dwell time that extends from the introduction of the molten material at least until the mold cavity is filled. In another example, a method of using a thermal blanket includes keeping a molten material in a molten state during a dwell time extending from first introduction of the molten material until pressurization. Systems including a variety of mold types, one or more thermal blankets, and in some cases preforms and/or inserts are also provided. Also described is a novel thermal blanket and method of manufacturing the same.

    • Embodiments provide head suspension load beams formed from a sheet of material with one or more stiffening members molded on the sheet. In some cases the sheet material includes an out-of-plane portion extending out at a nonzero angle, and the stiffening member includes a rib formed on the sheet material about the out-of-plane portion of the sheet material. In some cases a void extending through the sheet material connects portions of a stiffening member on opposite surfaces of the sheet material. Ribs of stiffening material may also provide flow pathways for directing moldable material to portions of the sheet, such as for forming a rib about the sheet edge. A method of making a load beam includes placing a sheet material within an injection mold and bending a portion of the sheet material during the molding process.

    • A jack has a housing with terminals extending from opposite sides of a terminal support. Toggles coupled to the housing include passages for receiving cable wires. Closing the toggles engages the terminals and terminates wires inserted in the passages without using a special punch down tool. Viewing apertures in the toggles are connected to the wire passages and let a person see whether wires are fully inserted into the toggles for proper connection to the terminals. In some cases the toggles are pivotally coupled to the housing and adjacent the opposite sides of the terminal support, and insertion ends of the toggles face away from the jack plug opening. The jack can have a modular configuration or an integral mounting plate. A method for terminating wires includes inserting untwisted wire ends into the toggles and pivoting the toggles to intersect the wire ends with electrical terminals.

    • Some embodiments provide a pivot mechanism and/or system (100) that includes a support member (102) defining a cavity (120) and an extension member (104) at least partially located within the cavity. In some cases one or more inner surfaces of the cavity can provide one or more pivots defining multiple pivot axes about which the extension member is generally pivotable through corresponding pivot ranges. The extent of the pivot ranges can be defined by the cavity within the support member. In some cases cooperating clamp members (106,108) engage the extension member and the support member to retain the extension member within the cavity. The clamp members may also include sliding surfaces (180) that slidingly engage with the support member to provide frictional resistance to pivoting movement of the extension member.
