    • Disclosed is a system and method for coordinating secured access to an access-controlled environment. A plurality of keys are stored, each associated with a user account and generated by executing a biometric authentication application, using identification information concerning the respective user and a component of the respective computing device. Access-control information identifies an access-controlled environment, and a transmission is received from a computing device that includes a respective key and an indicator indicating that the user's identity has been biometrically confirmed by the computing device. The key confirms that the user has been biometrically authenticated, and that the transmission is not a replay of a previously received transmission from the computing device. Access to the access-controlled environment is facilitated as a function of the verification, determination and confirmation.

    • A content delivery platform is provided that includes generating a first content package of content that is encrypted with a unique symmetric key and a second content package including a link encrypted with the key to the first content package. The first content package is stored in a repository, and a request including the key is transmitted to a first computing device associated with a mail exchange for an encryption key file. An encryption key file is generated using the unique symmetric key and together with a authorising token is received. A third content package is generated that is encrypted using the encryption key file and includes the encrypted link. The third content package is transmitted to a distributor gateway and the encrypted link is accessible in response to the consumer decrypting the third content package. The link is available to provide to access to the content for the consumer.

A base portion and an object portion are provided with an apparatus, and a plurality of light receiving elements are configured with the base portion that are operable to detect light emanating from pixels that flash on a computing device display screen. A plurality of actuators are provided with the base portion and each is configured to independently actuate in response to the light detected by the light receiving elements. A plurality of passive mechanical components is provided with the object portion.     • The present invention provides a method of programming a preset intensity of a dimmer switch from a radio-frequency (RF) remote control. A user is able to adjust the intensity of the lighting load to a new intensity and subsequently press and hold a preset button on the remote control to program the new intensity as the preset intensity. The remote control transmits a wireless transmission to the dimmer switch, which immediately responds to the actuation of the preset button by controlling the intensity of the lighting load to an initial preset intensity. The dimmer switch then blinks a light-emitting diode representative of the new intensity to provide feedback that the dimmer switch is in the process of programming the preset intensity to the new intensity. Eventually, the dimmer switch stores the new intensity as the preset intensity and stops blinking the light-emitting diode.

    • An electronic ballast for driving a gas discharge lamp avoids mercury pumping in the lamp by adaptively changing an operating frequency of an inverter of the ballast when operating near high-end. The inverter of the ballast generates a high-frequency AC voltage, which is characterized by the operating frequency and an operating duty cycle. The ballast also comprises a resonant tank for coupling the high-frequency AC voltage to the lamp to generate a present lamp current through the lamp, and a current sense circuit for determining the magnitude of the present lamp current. A hybrid analog/digital control circuit controls both the operating frequency and the operating duty cycle of the inverter with closed-loop techniques. The control circuit adjusts the duty cycle of the inverter in response to a target lamp current and the present lamp current. To avoid mercury pumping, the control circuit attempts to maximize the duty cycle of the inverter when operating at high-end. Specifically, the control circuit adjusts the operating frequency of the inverter in response to the target lamp current signal, the duty cycle of the inverter, and a target duty cycle in order to drive the operating duty cycle toward the target duty cycle.
