摘要： A three-component band (100) has two outer rows (102,106) of tighter contraction than a middle row (104) which may be offset from the tops of the outer rows in order to provide a groove or recess (108). Stitching (110) or the like may be sewn into the groove or recess and the top of such stitching may be flush with the tops of the outer two rows. In some instances no groove, recess or stitching are resorted to. The outer two rows are of generally greater contraction than the middle row such that the middle row may flex to a greater degree than the outer rows thereby forming a band for association with garments including hats, caps and underwear or the like. A moisture absorbing material (202), such as cotton, may be used in conjunction with the three-component band in order to provide absorption for perspiration or other moisture. A hat of generally non-stretchable and stretchable material may be attached to the three-component band. Bunching or the like of the non-stretchable hat material may occur to accommodate the elastic nature of the three-component band.

摘要： A disinfecting system comprises a light source having output suitable for use as a germicidal agent, and a power supply for the light source that is adapted to limit the output of the light source to levels adequate for microbial growth control. The light source is operatively housed in fluid-conveying equipment for disinfecting fluids and surfaces therein. The limited output is attenuated by fluid-conveying equipment components disposed within the output range of the light source. The attenuated output provides safe human exposure levels in the vicinity of fluid intake and exhaust portions of the fluid-conveying equipment. The limited output inhibits the degradation of fluid-conveying equipment components disposed within the output range of the light source. The light source may be covered with a thin film or sleeve of material being semi-transparent to germicidal UV wavelengths to control the output of the light source.
