摘要： A coupling for connecting an air supply to a respiratory support device has a latching mechanism which prevents the coupling from inadvertently axially displacing from the respiratory support device after they have been mated in a pneumatically discrete path. Non-axial forces are used to disengage the coupling from the respiratory support device. The coupling may include a trailing end adapter which permits rotation of the coupling relative to the air supply rather than to the respiratory support device.

摘要： A method and template enable the testing of fusion joints of plastic pipes to be conducted by a single operator in the field at the welding site by the efficient and precise extraction from the joints to be tested of a number of high quality tensile coupons. The coupons are tested to failure in a field-suitable, well controlled, self contained, tensile testing apparatus. A narrowing bow-tie-like pattern of the coupon ensures that the failure of the coupon in the tensile test will occur at the narrowest section of the coupon. The template can be visually aligned with the joint to ensure that it is the joint that will be tested.

摘要： Metallic objects such as steel pipes and shipbuilding plates are welded using complemental bevels in the faces to be welded which, when abutted, define a channel of cruet shaped cross-section. The cruet shaped channel allows the filling weld passes to be performed using a welding instrument oscillated only at tolerance amplitudes in a range of 1.5 mm +/- 0.5 mm rather than bevel width amplitudes. The process can be used in single or double side welding applications.

摘要： In a process for treating effluent water, a stream of effluent water is fed to a porous ceramic media filled reactor. Organic and inorganic impurities are absorbed and/or oxidized from the effluent water into the media and/or off-gases. The remainder of the effluent water stream is dispensed from the reactor in an outlet stream suitable for direct discharge to the sea or for recycling without incurring the disadvantages of generating a solid sludge. The reactor includes a chamber containing activated media, such as pellets of porous ceramic material. The pellets are stored in a vertical stacks of sub chambers defined by horizontal perforated trays and/or in a horizontal chains of sub chambers defined by vertical perforated baffles.

摘要： A body heat reflecting cloth has an aluminized coating heat pressed to a reinforcing scrim. The scrim may be dimpled to enhance the bonding of the coating to the scrim. The scrim strengthens the cloth against tearing, stretching and distortion. The coating provides the radiant barrier. The resulting cloth is thin, lightweight, easily manipulated, thermally efficient, extremely 'quiet' and well suited to hunting or other activities in which the wearer desires to minimize introducing unnatural sounds into the environment. The finished cloth can be perforated to allow the material to breathe or non-perforated to function as a water barrier. It can be used alone or as the heat reflecting barrier layer of a multi-layered cloth. The coating may be applied to both sides of the scrim so that, however the cloth is applied, there will be a heat reflective barrier on the wearer side of the scrim.
