    • A method (400) for resizing an active area of a flexible display or reconfigurable device (100) can include a screen (104 or 210) and a controller (202) coupled to the screen. The controller can initiate (402) a re-sizing program upon detection of an altered shape for the display or device and control (411) the active area of the display based upon the altered shape. The controller can further resize (414) fonts or graphic elements or both in correspondence to the dimensions of the active area. The controller can initiate the resizing program by altering the flexible display away from a flat position to a non-flat position for example. The flexible display can further include a switch (106) that detects the mating of a first end (111) of the flexible display with a second end (112) which initiates the resizing program.

    • A satellite positioning system (SPS) antenna aiding device (100) includes an SPS receiver (102), an environmental sensor (106) to determine a heading value, a tilt value, or an acceleration value, and a processor (104). The processor can be programmed to determine (306) heading, determine (304) an estimated direction of peak antenna gain in relation to satellites in view, and prioritize (308) acquisition attempts of a portion of satellites in view based on the estimated direction of peak antenna gain and environmental data. The processor can perform (310) a split search with correlators split between searches for satellites with assumed peak gain using a shorter dwell time and longer dwell time searches for satellites with lower gain. The device can electronically present (312) an orientation guide to a user based on the estimated direction of peak antenna gain and in view of the heading of the SPS receiver.

    • The invention concerns a flash shutter mechanism (105) and a method (200) of operating same. The mechanism can include a flash (114) that may illuminate when an image is captured and a lens (116) that can cover the flash, including when the flash is illuminated. The lens can have a substantially transparent state and a substantially opaque state. In particular, the lens can be in the substantially transparent state when a camera mode is activated and can be in the substantially opaque state when the camera mode is deactivated. In one arrangement, the shutter mechanism can be positioned in a camera phone (100), and when the lens is in the substantially opaque state, the lens can have a color that may substantially match a portion of a housing (118) of the camera phone. The lens may also cover an image capture device (112).
